Cyn's Rabbit Hole

But of course, my absolute favorite is the CokeyCyn photograph. Not to be mistaken for a paid Coca-Cola advertisement, but an endorsement nonetheless. ;-)
If you're wondering why I've got these photos, it's all because our on-line community PhilMUG (the Philippine Mac Users Group) has a sub-group of the Mac Ladies. Yes yes, there are enough ladies who are tech-savvy enough, in order to have a complete group of its own. Anyway, Dominique James, our honorary member, offered to give all the girls a chance of feeling like a model -- he sponsored a photo session for all of us last last Friday (whew! Bagal ko mag-post, no?).
Over a dozen of us were there, and we chipped in for a hair and make-up artist to doll us up. Photo Styling, though, was to each our own style. I was lamenting the fact that I had not-a-breath of my Coke collection with me, since I was ill-prepared for the shoot. I briefly considered running home to get good outfits and props before proceeding to the shoot, but that was a quickly killed thought, as soon as I realized that the shoot was near SM City -- the end of Edsa. (Meaningless trivia: I measured. It's 40.6 kilometers away from my house in Cavite).
Luckily, after my first round of photos (white shirt, jeans, Mac. What else does a girl need?), I sauntered outside and happily discovered that a big shopping bag of Cokes in Can had miraculously appeared outside near the drinks! All night, I was chugging Coke from the bottle, with ice (the horror! Well, at least it wasn't pepsi), so I was really surprised that there were two dozen Coke cans out there!
So I meekly interrupted the preparations of Melissa and Iya, who were to go after me. And of course I asked DJ if I could please please please also have a set-up with Coke cans?
Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh.... kewl.
I will take this opportunity to publicly thank Dominique James (DJ) for his generosity and talent and luv. It felt good to feel so fahbulous... i mean, feeling-celebrity-fabulous. And he made me look really good.

Feeling!
This is me pretending to be a model. DJ, the FAbulous photographer who took the photos, was trying to get me to not smile. But heck, that's hard if you're in front of all the lights and feeling like a gorgeous celebrity!
This is the smallest smile that I managed all night:
But most of the time I looked like this:
Or even a BIGGER smile. But I won't post that. Now I know why my grade school teachers called me Bungisngis.

Warning!
Cervantes, Ibanes, Santos, David. the UP Maroons. Watch out for these guys. they're dangerous.
Did you see? Joseph Yeo put a knife in UP's heart with three swoosh 3-pointers in a row. Cervantes was the Maroon who beautifully put an icy grip on all of our hearts by calmly answering with his own 3-pointer off a fast-break. Kewl.
Ibanes took off from the free throw line, on a fast break, going up, over, and finally around each and every one of the five Archers trying to defend the basket. Whoa.
Ah well. If this UP Maroon team starts 2005 remembering how well they did this second round of the UAAP ... dangerous. A new contender is in town.
Making the UAAP all that much more interesting.
Oh, yes. And La Salle won today, but a whopping 13 points. Or was it 15? One game to go against the UE Red Warriors. If FEU or Ateneo slip up in these last few games, there's a chance we'll be in the top 2. Woo hoo!
Animo La Salle!

Sports News Live Tonight...
LaSalle vs. UP today, at the Ultra.
This match-up is interesting and important in so many ways. For one, it's putting together the two best-performing teams this second round of the UAAP.
La Salle's second round has been, so far, very eventful, with a 4-game winning streak so far, including a blow-out game over arch-rival Ateneo. UP, on the other hand, is on fire. No, I am not exaggerating.
UP is on a five-game winning streak and is surprisingly unbeaten in the entire second round! It's the best performance from UP in over two decades, I think. The last time UP performed nearly as good as this, they won the Championship.
The second reason why it's interesting is because it's going to pretty much finalize the standings for the Final Four. If La Salle wins, DLSU will be assured of the 3rd place spot, with a pretty good chance at being in the finals. We'll also have a better chance of climbing to 2nd place, and earning a Twice-to-Beat advantage in the Semi-Finals.
If UP wins, they have a chance at beating out UE for the 4th place spot -- the last Final Four spot. And since UP has beaten Ateneo this year, it is very possible that they win over Ateneo in the semi-finals. Oh, and with the win of UE over Adamson in the first game today, a loss by UP means that they have absolutely no chance -- absolutely no chance of getting into the final four.
That's why today is so important. So, even if a guy named David is the leader of the UP Maroons...
Beat U.P.! Animo La Salle!
*Sigh* I wish I could be at the Ultra today.

Ah, the quotes just keep coming
It is really funny, sometimes, when life repeatedly throws things your way. The first time you think, maybe I am jumping to conclusions. Maybe this is not a sign from the greater powers in the universe. Maybe I'm just assuming that the things going on in my life are really truly meaningful in the grand scheme of things.
But then a second "sign" rears its ugly head. And another. So you have to stop and think about what life is *loudly* trying to tell you. And you should listen. Right.
I opened my planner to next week, and glaring there in neat green letters was a saying by Theodore H. White (whoever and wherever he may be):
The most difficult thing in the world is to know how to do a thing and to watch someone else do it wrong, without comment."
Sigh.

Sigh.
A Word to the Wise.
"do not argue with dumb people. they drag you down to their level, and then they beat you with experience."
Wise words, despite the fact that they came from unilever. The proctoid in me protests heavily, but the truth in these words outweighs all.
They say that Proctoids have a hard time when they get out and go into the real world. Seriously, when I was applying in different companies a few years back, so many potential employers all, with a straight-face, asked whether or not the training of P&G would be a potential anchor weighing me down, rather than a strength.
I had always answered that I considered myself quite patient with organizations which had processes which needed some improvement. In fact, I actually like working through processes and figuring out how to make things more efficient. (Yes, Yes, I do realize exactly how much of my nerdiness has just been revealed. But it's the truth. I'm having a Sprite moment.)
However, some stories from a friend made me stop and think... with all the patience that we have with figuring out and fixing processes, would you be equally equipped when dealing with stupid people?
Sometimes as well, you may have to ask yourself: would you rather work side by side an evil person who may one day just turn around and stab you in the back, a stupid person who you would have to lug around on your back all the time, or an overzealous person who's constantly on your back for reasons which logic defies?
Ah well. We can write a book.
Anyway, in a lame effort to make me and my officemate feel better, I'm going to call out and ask everyone to write me with your story of the stupidest thing you've heard an officemate or supplier or telemarketer say or do. :-) Write to me at cokeycyn@gmail.com ! I'll post the best stupid stories as soon as we have critical mass. *wink*
